SharePoint Department Drives
The move from a network drive to SharePoint adds many advantages such as allowing multiple people to edit a single document together, and revision history of files to allow you to see previous versions and changes. This change can be a bit overwhelming to your workflows, this document will go into a few of the changes.
Accessing Files
To access files, you will go to the Intranet SharePoint Homepage > Documents (just under Northwest Primary Care at the top) > Files. Documents can be accessed and opened from within Edge. Files can also be added to show up within Windows on the local computer by adding it to OneDrive (see below).
Adding Files to OneDrive
Adding the files to OneDrive will cause them to show up in Windows File Explorer similar to how they showed up in the Y drive. To add to OneDrive from within the folder you want to add (it is recommended to add the Files folder itself), Click on the Add shortcut to OneDrive button in the center toolbar (Fig. 1). Once you click this, a small notification will be shown at the bottom saying that it has been added. Once it is added, it will take a few moments for it to show up under your OneDrive folder in Windows Explorer (Fig. 2). From within this folder that is created in OneDrive, you can open files locally, move or manage files as you normally would. Copying or saving a file to this folder will upload it to SharePoint.

Saving Files Directly to OneDrive from Office Products
From within the Office Products (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc), you can save directly to SharePoint. When saving, select Northwest Primary Care (highlighted in Fig. 3) > Files > Department Drive and save into the folder you would like.

Pinning Items to Quick Access
Pinning folder to your Quick Access list in Windows File Explorer will allow you save shortcuts to commonly accessed folders. To pin a folder:
Right click on it from a OneDrive shortcut (see attached document on adding the shortcut) and select Pin to Quick Access.
That will save it on the left-hand side as a shortcut to that specific folder. To unpin a folder, right click on it and select Unpin from Quick Access. Example below of the location of Quick Access items which when pinned will display a pin icon next to them.
Converting Files
With the move to SharePoint, some older files (.doc or .xls extensions) will need to be updated to the newer format to allow all the features of SharePoint to work. I have gone through and cleaned up as many as I could but there might be a few more out there. If you are prompted to Convert the file, simply hit Convert and it will create a copy of the file in the same folder with the updated format. Below is an example of what the dialog looks like. After you convert the file, you can close out of the original and open the newly created file.
